LSL girls golden at 21U Nationals

Team-Quebec girls concluded a tortuous path towards gold in a final 9-1 defeat of Team-Ontario at the 21U Girls Nationals in Stonewall, MB. Finishing a disappointing fourth in the five-team roundrobin with a 2-2 record, Quebec girls held off Nova Scotia 7-4 in the semis to secure their ticket to the final game. Key to that semi-final, extra-inning victory was the work of Dollard RHP Erica Ahad, earning the player-of-the-game award and ultimately selected as a tournament all-star with an impressive ratio of 9 K to 1 BB over a 168- pitch count. Erica was joined on the TQ roster by Ste-Martine’s RHP Sophy Gagné, Pierrefonds’ RF and tournament all-star Sena Catterall, and former LSL player Alexandra Lacroix from Laurentides. Team-Quebec has long been established as a force on the national scene, with as many as 10 LSL players contributing to the 6 gold medals won by the team in various divisions since 2014. TQ’s summer calendar concludes August 23-26 with the 16U Nationals in Bedford, NS.
